Chrome OS New Build

Jan 18, 2010

Web developer and Chrome hacker alias Hexxeh has released a new version of his Chromium OS build.

The new release, code-named Zero, is based on Chromium build 4.0.2.89/0.5.25 and, in addition to a few speed improvements, provides support for most WiFi chipsets. The boot process also has some spiffy new artwork that unfortunately can flash by unnoticed during the five-second start-up time.

Trying out Chrome OS is now easier than ever with Chromium OS Zero. The 250-MB tar.gz archive contains a scant 1GB image file that can be downloaded via the dd command to a USB stick for booting.
