Collax Open-Xchange Server Updated
The Linux distributor Collax has updated its Open-Xchange server groupware product to version 5.1. Besides the basic system several services were also updated.
Open-Xchange joins the Business Server and the Security Gateway as the third Collax server product to run on the Linux kernel 2.6. The Collax product combines Collax's own Linux platform with Open-Xchange groupware. According to the vendor, the upgrade can be handled remotely without needing to completely reinstall.
Besides the basic system, critical services such as the directory, fax, and mail servers were updated. The web interface is more ergonomic use thanks to Ajax technology. The Oxtender extension gives users the ability to access the groupware server via Microsoft Outlook clients.
The Collax Open-Xchange server is available as an appliance or as a software only version. The software costs 690 euros incl. VAT for an annual subscription. The price includes the Outlook and Palm extension, Oxtender. For more information and pricing, a test version, and a free license key for private use, visit the Collax website.
