Spanish company eBox Technologies has released version 1.4 of its Linux server for small to medium sized enterprises.
The eBox platform is based on Ubuntu Linux and can be deployed as a gateway or UTM server, or as office or unified communications server. The distro, its source code and updates are available for free download. Tee company also provides commercial support and free SaaS services such as remote backup and VoIP.
The now available version 1.4 is based on Ubuntu Server 8.04. It supports the LDAP master-slave relationship, but can also use Microsoft's Active Directory. Samba is included in its current version 3.4.5, which will serve for Vista and Windows 7 clients.
The e-mail module now supports Sieve and quotas and further features such as anti-spam and catch-all accounts. The new webmail module is Roundcube.
