Open Business Intelligence from Infobright and Jaspersoft
The Infobright and Jaspersoft firms have combined their open source software into an integrated data warehousing and business intelligence solution.
Infobright Community Edition (ICE) is not multipurpose data storage. Instead, the GPL software is intended for loading data and using it in read-only mode, called data warehousing. The storage can be as much as 30 TBytes of data, a table can contain billions of records. The software is available for Linux (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows (32-bit). A white paper goes into some of the details of the Infobright architecture. The database system used is MySQL.
Jaspersoft adds its Business Intelligence Suite to the Community Edition solution. Jaspersoft is under LGPL and consists of the BI Suite, JasperReports, iReport, JasperServer, JasperAnalysis and JasperETL (Extract Transfer Load). The software is ready for download at the Jasperforge site.
The combined Infobright and Jaspersoft project page evidently still has problems with the Infobright CE (ICE) download data.
However, the data warehousing software is also available at the Infobright site. A short Jaspersoft data sheet includes the critical aspects of the integrated solution.
According to the partner firms, the combined solution is already in production at Bi3 Solutions, which provides business intelligence and collaborative performance management solutions using the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model.
