Puppet Labs Acquires the Mcollective
Open source Marionette Project becomes part of Puppet.
Puppet Labs, whose core product Puppet offers scalable data center automation, allowing a smaller IT staff to handle larger workloads, has acquired the Marionette Project. The open source project is used to execute actions on clusters of servers via an orchestration framework/job execution system.
The acquisition is a logical one as incorporating the Marionette Project allows network resource discovery in realtime and lets IT teams manage all sizes of clusters. The two products together would make it possible to automate IT infrastructures while keeping an eye on network resources in real-time.
More information on the acquisition can be found at puppetlabs.com/mcollective/.
