Tine 2.0 Now OpenID Provider
The Web-based groupware suite Tine 2.0 is now available in version 2009/11, code-named August.
The Tine releases are named after the children of developer Cornelius Weiss, thus code-name August is not the month. (In fact, August was the month the earlier Leonie release came out.) The newest Tine version can now be used as a provider for the free authentication standard OpenID. Performance was also improved. Deleting emails now occurs in background mode while the user is working. If the Firefox plugin Callout is installed, the browser prominently shows new email notifications.
The customer relationship management (CRM) module also got new views and improved search and filter functions. CRM leads can be exported to existing Excel spreadsheets. The calendar components now manage resources such as meeting rooms and company vehicles. When creating and moving events, Tine 2.0 checks participant availability and gives warnings when conflicts occur.
Tine 2.0 in version 2009/11 is under AGPLv3 and can be downloaded from the project homepage. A test drive can be done via a newly updated online demo.
