eGroupware Version 1.6 Available
The eGroupware project has released version 1.6 of its web-based software. Amongst the changes is a completely revamped filemanager which uses PHP stream-wrapping and WebDAV, and ACL control on files and directories.
Other new functions in the eGroupware v1.6 include support for multiple mail accounts and an email client which comes with extensive bugfixes. The tracker-application now has an escalation-matrix and automatic mail-conversion for tickets. The developers have improved calendar functions, especially with recurring events and a multitude of bugfixes have been added for the synchronization of mobile devices with SyncML.
The eGroupware download is available as a PHP source code archive on a SourceForge webpage. The groupware is licensed under GPL and will run with Linux, Mac OS X and Windows, where a server such as Apache, IIS or PHP version 5.1 and above, and a data bank like MySQL or PostgreSQL will be needed.
The project is sponsored by Stylite. The company offers commercial support and hosting and sells printed handbooks in English and German. Stylite also provides a demo-installation of the software.
