Byobu, a session manager for the command line
Window Fitter
Article from Issue 141/2012
The Byobu session manager extends the shell, adding a range of useful functions, such as splitting the screen, running programs in the background, or organizing programs in tabs. In particular, administrators who rely on SSH will appreciate Byobu.
If you search Wikipedia for “Byobu,” you will find an article on Japanese screens. The Linux tool of the same name [1] is not as decorative, but in terms of versatility and convenience, it is similar to its counterpart from the Far East. Designed to supplement Screen, the Linux full-screen window manager, Byobu is already included in most distributions.
