Repairing boot managers and more in Linux and Windows
Conclusions
Rescatux presents itself as a collection of helpful tools for troubleshooting computers that fail to boot. The Live CD is great for working with the GRUB boot manager and helps you avoid the typical mistakes you can make when dealing with this complicated system software. Moreover, the author has bundled useful tools for handling passwords and for cases in which data has been lost.
I can recommend Rescatux almost unreservedly for the envisaged tasks. The developer is currently working on adding a little more convenience; a more reliable tool than Wicd for network access would be a good idea. The ability to change the keyboard layout to other languages is already on the to-do list.
