Affordable Linux Netbook from the Australian Agora

Mar 18, 2009

The Agora netbook from Kogan Technologies could be considered the most affordable netbook out of Australia. Availability starts in April 2009 at a price of merely AU$499.

The Agora comes preinstalled with gOS Cloud with attractive Google Gadgets. Kogan based their decision to go with gOS in a blog survey. Kogan offers the Agora (Latin for "marketplace") in two variants. The Agora Netbook (currently about US$330) comes with 1 GByte RAM and a 3-cell battery. The Agora Netbook PRO (currently about US$356) has additional Bluetooth and a 6-cell battery.

Both models have a nonreflective 10" monitor, a 160-GByte hard drive (despite the diskless needs of cloud computing) and the usual Atom N270 processor.

Kogan's Agora includes Intel's Atom processor.
