Novell Plans Open Source Apps Warehouse
Even though software installation under Linux has been among the best of things, Windows folks have had a hard time with it. Novell's new Apps Store should provide some long needed help.
As PC Pro reports, Novell has been mulling over a one-click warehouse solution à la iPhone and Android as part of their netbook initiative. The openSUSE Build Service has already been offering such one-click packages, although few have known about this opportunity or made use of it.
In response, Novell's VP of business development Holger Dyroff plans a netbook version of an open source Apps Store that distinguishes itself from existing ones by providing only free software. How far the Novell Apps Store has progressed for the Moblin version of openSUSE hasn't been revealed.
