Lucidor 0.6 E-Book Reader Can Handle Web Feeds

Aug 04, 2009

Lucidor, a desktop program that reads e-books, is available in version 0.6. The open source software can also read and archive Web feeds.

Lucidor can read digital books in EPUB format and can search OPDS online catalogs for titles and keywords, such as Feedbooks.com and the Gutenberg Project. In the Lucidor newsroom users can subscribe to and organize news feeds. The new Lucidor tool takes online content and collects it into e-books in EPUB format.

Lucidor is based on XUL, the GUI technology from the Mozilla project, thus requiring Firefox 3, 3.5 or XULRunner 1.9 or later to be installed. Binary files are available for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows. A deb package is also suitable for Ubuntu and Debian. The source code for download off the project page is under GPLv3.

For a presentation of other e-book readers and managers, see the online article by Dmitri Popov.
