Presentations with UberWriter
You can also create two surprising file types with a combination of UberWriter and Pandoc. For example, you can output an ebook in the popular EPUB format, which can be used by popular ebook reading devices and programs. Additionally, you have the option of creating a presentation directly in UberWriter that will run in any modern browser – without an Internet connection or PowerPoint (Figure 3).

You have to expect some compromises in terms of design here, because the presentation makes do without complex graphical effects. However, the various formats are very good if you need to present facts in the form of a really small file.
When creating a presentation, the headings in Markdown then become the titles of the slides. Then, you can add more text or use bulleted lists in the usual way. When you are satisfied with the result, go to File | Advanced Export. In the next dialog, choose Slidy from the list box.
Compared with the other formats, Slidy [3] has the advantage that you can – with a single click – design the presentation to run even if no Internet connection is available, and no scripts or templates need to be downloaded. To use the presentation offline, select the Self Contained option below HTML. Then, press Export and type the file name for the HTML page. A few moments later, the export is complete, and you can view the results in a browser.
Conclusions
UberWriter outshines the normal functionality of other editors, with distraction-free writing, clean Markdown processing, and, above all, many useful export formats. Thus, the program primarily serves professional writers, although it can make life easier for normal users as well.
