Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and Updated SDK Tools Released

Xavier Ducrohet, Android SDK Tech Lead, announces today's release of Android 2.3 and updated SDK tools.

On the Android Developers Blog, Android SDK Tech Lead Xavier Ducrohet announced the latest Android release, Android 2.3 (a.k.a., Gingerbread). Ducrohet says that highlights of the new release include enhancements for game-development, added support for the VP8 and WebM video formats, support for AAC and AMR-wideband encoding, and support for front-facing camera, SIP/VOIP, and Near Field Communications (NFC).
