Initial Web 2.0 Summit Lineup Announced
Carol Bartz, Evan Williams, Paul Maritz, Nikesh Arora and ... Will.i.am? One of these things is not like the other.
The Web 2.0 Summit announced the initial guest speakers planned for the November summit. The theme of the Web 2.0 Summit is "Points of Control: The Battle for the Network Economy." The 29 speakers announced will all give addresses structured around this theme.
The full list of announced speakers is announced at the bottom, but here are a few highlights.
Carol Bartz, CEO of Yahoo!: Bartz recently took part in Tech Crunch Disrupt in New York, where during an awkward, standoffish interview she told TC's Michael Arrington to "fuck off."
Omar Hamoui, CEO of the recently Google-acquired AdMob: AdMob serves mobile advertising. It will be interesting to learn AdMob's role in Android's ecosystem.
Jeff Weiner, CEO of LinkedIn: LinkedIn has been growing its social functionality lately, adding improved Twitter integration and additional social networking functions.
Paul Maritz, CEO of VMware: As cloud-based computing becomes more accessible both on traditional computers and mobile devices, VMware's role will be not just about providing service, but monetization.
Mark Pincus, CEO of Zynga: Zynga's FarmVille is a perfect example of monetizing social networking through an existing platform.
The Web 2.0 Summit is a jointly produced by O'Reilly Media and UBM TechWeb. The summit takes place November 15-17 in San Francisco's Palace Hotel. Early registration runs through September 27 and is US$ 3,995. Standard price is US$ 4,195 and on-site price is US$ 4,395. To register click here.
