Mandriva CEO Refutes Acquisition Rumor
Arnaud Laprévote clears the air on the official Mandriva blog.
Mandriva S.A. CEO Arnaud Laprévote responded to rumors that the Linux distro had been sold, stressing that the company behind the Linux distro had not been sold.
In a blog post titled, "About Mandriva's Current Situation" Laprévote cited that while the company is in takeover talks with several investors, the talks themselves are nothing new and have been going on for quite some time. Laprévote cited Mandriva's acquisitions of Edge-IT, Conectiva and Linbox FAS as examples of the company's ingenuity during slow economic times.
These acquisitions in combination with improvements to their core product were responsible for the heightened investor interest.
Laprévote ended his post by saying, "We are beginning to harvest the results of this development work with hundreds of thousands of PCs using the Mandriva OS sold in South America, Asia and rapid sales of Pulse2 and MES5 in Europe."
With that in mind, it doesn't look like investor speculation will end any time soon.
