Mozilla's new Web developer portal is online

Anyone who develops for the open web should feel at home here: The Mozilla Developer Network has replaced the old Mozilla Developer Center.

The new platform Developer.mozilla.org is billed as, "A comprehensive, usable, and accurate resource for everyone developing for the Open Web." In In a recent blog entry Jay Patel, Marketing Manager at Mozilla, and Brian Louie, Stanford student and Mozilla intern, gave an introduction to the new website. In addition to the expanded audience that covers add-ons, Web apps, mobile, and traditional applictions, documentation has been given an overhaul. Now, posts from the Mozilla developers forums form a separate menu items that can be viewed alongside official Mozilla documentation.

The Mozilla Developer Center began as a project 5 years ago when the Mozilla Foundation successfully acquired a license from AOL to scour DevEdge content. The Mozilla Foundation hopes that the MDC will become a go-to resource for designers, application developers, and extension writers.
