Sidux 2009-02: New Kernel and KDE 4.2

Jul 16, 2009

The Sidux Linux distro now appears in version 2009-02 as based on Debian and with Kernel 2.6.30, KDE 4.2.4 and free sofware as usual.

Two KDE 4.2.4 versions are in the offering for the release, a KDE-lite, a spartan implementation of 600 MBytes, and a KDE-full version of 2 GBytes. XFCE versions for amd64 and i686 are also provided.

Sidux mainly uses code from Debian Sid, rids it of bugs and enriches it with its own scripts and packages. Quoting the release notes, "Be aware that the KDE-lite flavors avoid KDE3/Qt3 packages, which means that K3b, Kaffeine and Umtsmon are not preinstalled."

The release notes list the mirror servers for downloads, which are for 32-bit and 54-bit systems. The project has its own download site as well.
