Yoper 2010 RC1 with KDE 4.4
Tobias Gerschner has made a release candidate of Yoper 2010 available for download. The version already includes the new KDE 4.4 as a desktop.
Yoper chief maintainer Gerschner characterizes RC1, code-named Dresden, as unspectacular but still important, because it will be a debut for KDE 4.4.
Yoper Linux 2010 RC1 is based on kernel 2.6.31 and includes the zen-kernel patchset. XServer 1.7.4 starts automatically with NVIDIA cards; users of older cards will need to add the nouveau.modeset=0 setting to the kernel command line.
The distro is available for download in a slim version (120 MBytes) without the graphical interface and the KDE4 version with the complete desktop (600 MBytes). According to the announcement, the KDE4 version should be installable in less than 10 minutes. Other desktops in the package sources include Fluxbox, Openbox, XFCE4 and KDE3 ("for the conservative user").
