CeBIT Open Source 2011 - Project Presentation Scentlinux
ByDuring CeBIT 2011 open source projects such as Scentlinux, a multimedia Linux distribution, will have the opportunity to showcase what is currently in active development.

Short and sweet: How would you describe your project in one or two sentences?
Scentlinux is a free Linux distribution based on Paldo, designed for creative people. The rolling distro provides users with the best mix of multimedia tools like Blender, Gimp and Inkscape as well as a clean and fast xfce-desktop.
When did the project begin?
The project was founded in 2010 and the first alpha-release was published in January 2011.
Why was the project created?
Many distributions don't use a "rolling"-concept and especially creative guys always need latest tools to create the best results for their clients. Scentlinux only uses one main "stable"-repo for all packages, a testing repo for dev's only and provides source and binary-packages. Of course the performance of the distribution is important as well, so users will get a clean and flexible xfce-desktop without any big additions.
Why should a CeBIT visitor come to your booth?
CeBIT users will see a great mix of Blender 2.5, Gimp 2.7dev and Inkscape, as well as a presentation of a production pipeline in a creative film production.
Where do you see your biggest current challenges?
There are still some problems with the package management. We have to redesign the idea of upkg to make it faster and easier to use.
Under which license is the software currently offered?
GPL
