Machine-readable codes aren’t just for big companies anymore. With the right programs and some low-cost hardware, you can create and read the most important codes.
Barcodes and 2D codes can help manage inventory and goods efficiently by eliminating typing and counting errors. These codes, generally used logistically, present information one dimensionally. Check digits are partly used to detect read errors. For inspection or manual input, plain text output appears below or next to the barcode line (Table 1).
