To reduce virtualization overhead and increase VM performance, SP4 introduces optimizations for Arm’s Generic Interrupt Controller (GIC) and virtual time (vTimer) passthrough.

SP4 enables GICv4.1 to enhance VM performance for VMs that routinely migrate between cores within the same affinity group (e.g., vCPU scheduling within an affinity group).

Designed for Arm-based systems using GICv4.1, vTimer passthrough allows virtual timer interrupts to be delivered with fewer VM exits and entries, reducing virtual timer interrupt-injection latency.
