A Sampling of KWin Tiling Scripts
Limitations on Choice
With all these choices, most people can probably find a KWin tiling script to suit them. However, the most common fault with all of these scripts is that they tend to use less commonly used keys for navigation, no doubt in an effort to avoid key combinations that are already in use. As a result, these key combinations can be difficult to use on a custom keyboard or a minimal one without changing the script’s defaults. In some scripts, such as KWin Tiling, no change of defaults has been coded yet. Consequently, an otherwise promising choice cannot be used without replacing the keyboard in these instances. No doubt this limitation will be addressed eventually, but meanwhile it is an annoying shortcoming.
Still, the KWin tiling scripts benefit from coming later in the history of tiling. Like Pop!_OS, they can take advantage of earlier tiling efforts. If tiling interests you, these scripts might very well provide a solution that suits your needs.
