Adobe Joins LiMo Foundation
A few media technology companies have joined the LiMo Foundation, Adobe Systems among the newest ones.
The fact that the LiMo platform supports Flash should motivate developers and content providers to create corresponding LiMo applications, said Adobe in what the LiMo Foundation considered worth a special press release. The Flash platform company is now joining the foundation as an associated member. From Barcelona on the same day, the foundation also celebrated its other new associate members ELSE Ltd., mobile phone makers from Israel, MobiTV, California live TV provider, and Sound Retrieval System (SRS) Labs, audio enhancement specialists.
Members of the LiMo Foundation are distinguished as Founders, Core and Associates. Associates are limited to distributing noncommercial versions of commonly developed programs and pay $20,000 as a membership fee. Core members paid $230,000 or as high as $460,0000 each in 2009, depending on whether or not they wanted to be on the board of directors.
The foundation, providers of mobile phones especially for the Asian market on the Android and Maemo platforms, most recently made a special effort at FOSDEM 2010 in Brussels to gather up a community by sending its open source manager, Andrew Savory.
