DebConf24 to be Held in South Korea
Busan will be the location of the latest DebConf running July 28 through August 4
DebConf is the official Debian project's developer conference and is held yearly in different locations around the globe.
It has been announced that the official Debian developer conference, DebConf24, will be held in the city of Buson in South Korea this year. This is a change from the original plans of holding the conference in Haifa, Israel. Because of the current state of unrest in the area, the DebConf committee decided a change of location was necessary.
Back in October 2023, in an official email, Antonio Terceiro (Debian developer and software engineer at Linaro) called out to members to submit a bid to host DebConf24.
Regardless of the venue change, the event will run as expected, starting off with the traditional DebCamp hacking session (July 21-27) to welcome Debian developers from around the world.
The final schedule of events for DebConf24 has yet to be solidified, and anyone attending can submit a proposal for tutorials, performances, art installations, debates, or any other format that might be of interest to the Debian community.
If you're interested in attending this year's DebConf, make sure to keep a close eye on the official page, for more information on registration, housing, travel, and more.
