Linux Plumbers Conference Ends
The third and final day of the Linux Plumbers Conference, a conference designed by developers for developers, featured two final microconferences: one focused on Dbus Desktop Integration, and the other on Future Displays and Input Devices.
After those sessions concluded, all the microconference leaders from the entire program summarized their sessions with "Report-Outs" in one final presentation, giving attendees the opportunity to hear about sessions they might have missed.
More than one speaker mentioned that by presenting known problems instead of summarizing previous accomplishments, they managed to find solutions during their sessions. Although some problems had no immediate solution – audio development is still stumped by multiple APIs, for example – some found at least an interim approach.
Conference organizers are already planning for the next LPC and actively looking for sponsors. Before closing the 2008 event, Kristen Carlson Accardi used the last few moments of the conference to get immediate feedback and ideas for Linux Plumbers Conference 2009.
