The developer team at the Ubuntu firm Canonical has finally released the complete source code of its hosting and collaboration tool Launchpad to the community.

Developers from Debian and Ubuntu met and discussed ways to improve boot performance at Canonical’s London headquarters.

Communtu wants to give new installers and Windows converts an easier time with Ubuntu. They will present a webpage with a list of suggested programs to install as a metapackage, including multimedia and proprietary software, and then install it.

Apport immediately kicks in when an application crashes. In the future the program should be user-interactive in detecting bugs faster and more efficiently.

Ubuntu has released a second alpha version of Karmic Koala containing the earliest new features.

Now that the GRUB vs. LILO match has been largely decided, the successor to the established GRUB bootloader is waiting in the aisles. The Ubuntu project wants to put GRUB 2 into action with Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala).

Michael Frey, Canonical developer and member of the OEM team, has shown at the UDS in Spanish Barcelona that Google's Android can run on Ubuntu.
