On Tuesday night, Drupal's Angela Byron won Best Contributor at the Google-O'Reilly Open Source Awards. Allison Randal presented the award and Angela hopped on stage to accept the award and thank her colleagues and the Drupal community. Congratulations goes out to Angela for winning this well-deserved award!

Anita Borg Change Agent Award Winner

Congratulations to Dorcas Muthoni, one of the winners of this year's Anita Borg Change Agent awards, which will fund her trip to the October Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing conference. According to a post on the Women in Science blog, Dorcas is a busy, busy woman. She is the founder and director of Openworld, which offers open source consulting, training, products, and support; co-founder of the African chapter of LinuxChix; and she encourages girls and women to get involved in computer sciences.

Nerd Girls and Kathie Lee

When I started this women in open source-focused blog, I never imagined I'd have a reason to mention Kathie Lee Gifford. But I saw the opportunity, and I'm taking the leap. I start each morning with Matt and Meredith on The TODAY Show, but I'm at the office by the time Kathie Lee and Hoda take over, so I missed the "Nerd Girls" topic last week. Actually, I've been thinking about this topic a lot – it seems that there have been a series of articles about attractive, intelligent women lately, which I find rather irritating.
