LibreOffice 26.2 Now Available

Feb 04, 2026

With new features, improvements, and bug fixes, LibreOffice 26.2 delivers a modern, polished office suite without compromise.

The most popular open source office suite for Linux has been given a bit more polish with its most recent release. According to the LibreOffice press release, "This release makes it easier than ever for users to create, edit, and share documents on their own terms. Designed for individuals and organizations alike, it continues to be a trusted alternative to proprietary office software."

Not only does LibreOffice 26.2 improve performance and responsiveness across all of the LibreOffice tools, it also makes working with larger documents smoother. You'll find enhanced compatibility with documents that were created in other software, which reduces formatting issues and other "surprises." In addition, there's expanded support for open standards to reinforce long-term access to documents.

Of course, there were also hundreds of bug fixes and stability improvements across the suite.

Florian Effenberger, Executive Director of The Document Foundation, said of this new release, "LibreOffice 26.2 shows what happens when software is built around users, not business models, and how open source software can deliver a modern, polished productivity suite without compromising user freedom." Florian continued to say, "This release is about speed, reliability, and giving people control over their documents."

You can download either an RPM or DEB package from the official LibreOffice site or wait for your distribution of choice to pick up the new release in the standard repositories.
