openSUSE Conference Approaches
The openSUSE Conference will be held July 18-22, 2013, at the Olympic Museum in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The 2013 openSUSE Conference (oSC13) expects hundreds of hackers from around the world for “5 days of awesome program speakers that blow your mind.”
Speakers include Theo Chatzimichos, SUSE QA engineer; Vincent Untz, current board chair; Miguel Ángel Barajas, cloud computer architect at HP and host of the openenchilada podcast; Henne Vogelsang, founding member and developer of the openSUSE Project; Michal Hrusecky, SQL expert and openSUSE Release Team member; and Alberto Planas, SUSE employee.
The schedule has not yet been finalized, but Untz will preside over the openSUSE Town Hall Meeting and lead Team Report sessions. Vogelsang plans to talk about the Open Build Service and how it can simplify software packaging and maintenance. Chatzimichos’ topic is configuration management with puppet, and Angel Barajas will talk about high-availability technologies. Planas takes a close look at trends in openSUSE download and installation numbers, whereas the openSUSE release process is the subject of Hrusecky’s talk, and he will lead a key/certificate signing bash.
Submission deadline for proposals is June 17. Join one of the most active openSUSE communities in Thessaloniki, Greece’s cultural capital, the acknowledged fifth best party city worldwide, and Europe’s youth capital 2014. Entry is free; all you have to do is register at the oSC13 website. “Power to the Geeko!”
