When it comes to dealing with ebooks, few applications can rival Calibre [1]. It offers a plethora of tools for all your ebook-related needs: from keeping tabs on your library and transferring ebooks to supported reading devices, to converting ebooks between different formats and serving them on the web.
Installing and Updating Calibre
Although your favorite Linux distro might have Calibre in its software repositories, the included package is most likely outdated because of frequent updates. Fortunately, installing the latest release of Calibre is not particularly complicated and can be done using the command in Listing 1.
The same command is used to update the existing Calibre installation, but the fast development pace means you have to run the command quite often. To avoid doing this manually every time Calibre informs you of new updates, you can create a simple shell script, make it executable, and run it whenever you need to update Calibre.
