Question: Good afternoon, Klaus: Here at work, we found a story about something called LSP for migrating Windows NT to Linux but found no repository available for us to perform a test. I would like to know whether some software like this exists. Christiano

Answer: Although I don't personally know this special advertised "automatic Windows to Linux migration" product, its description sounds to me very much like a standard setup for replacing a proprietary Windows server with free software, based on GNU/Linux, in a smooth migration scenario that allows one to use Linux and Windows in parallel, sharing most of the same resources.

So, instead of discussing just a specific product, I'll point you to its components that are available in many solutions targeted at Windows migration. I'll go through the feature descriptions as follows:
