AsteriskNOW 1.5 Based on CentOS
AsteriskNOW, a Linux distro for telephony setups that includes GPL-licensed Asterisk, is now available in version 1.5.
In the newest release of AsteriskNOW developers swapped the previous rPath appliance platform with the free Red Hat clone CentOS, and this in its newest incarnation, version 5.3.
Digium Inc. calls its free VoIP telephony product "Asterisk in minutes" in that it uses the Asterisk GUI instead of the previous FreePBX. Extended hardware support is no longer under the name Zaptel, but Digium Asterisk Hardware Device Interface (DAHDI) instead.
AsteriskNOW provides ISO images that promise to create a running Asterisk server in 30 minutes, for 32-bit and 64-bit x86 processors.
