First Opensuse 11 Alpha
Stephan Kulow has announced an initial alpha version of Opensuse 11 on the Opensuse Announce mailing list.
The alpha version is designed for developers and is not suitable for production use. It includes kernel 2.6.24-rc4, X.org 7.3 and Gcc 4.3.0.
The latest Opensuse does not rely on KDE 4: although it includes version 4.0 RC1, KDE 3.5.8 remains the default. A final decision has not yet been reached. Apart from this, the alpha includes Alsa 1.0.15, Gimp 2.4, Gdb 6.7.1, and Yast2 2.16.
In his mail Kulow refers to major difference between the latest version and OpenSuse 10.3, and claims that the new version is fairly stable. He asks Opensuse users and developers to download the latest version from the website and provides a link to a list of known bugs.
