One of the nice things about Free Software is that it can take you to some very nice places. Recently, it took me to Prague, Czech Republic, where I attended several Linux Foundation events (the Kernel Summit, Embedded Linux Conference, and LinuxCon Europe).

The Open Source Forum returns to CeBIT 2012! CeBIT, the world's largest IT trade show will be held from March 6 to 10, 2012 in Hannover, Germany. As in previous years, the Forum will take place in Hall 2.

CeBIT welcomes open source projects to Hannover, Germany! The show organization and Linux Magazine are calling for open source projects to apply for free exhibit space at CeBIT Open Source 2012. Open source projects are provided with the opportunity to present their work to the CeBIT audience, just like commercial exhibitors.

At the recent LinuxCon North America [1] in Vancouver, Canada, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the start of the Linux Kernel project. Many of the best developers in the community were there, and we had “gala” events celebrating the past 20 years. Although the Linux kernel tends to dominate aspects of computing such as high-performance computing, embedded systems design, and servers, several people acknowledged that we still have not enjoyed “the year of the Linux desktop.”

The Linux Foundation's first LinuxCon Europe, co-located with the Kernel Summit, will be held October 26-28 in Prague, Czech Republic. LinuxCon Europe and the Embedded Linux Conference call for participation ends next week.
