Ulteo Partners with Microsoft to Further Integrate the Open Virtual Desktop into Windows
Open source startup selected for Initiative for the Economic Development of the Software publishers and Start-up by MS France.
Ulteo announced a partnership with Microsoft France to further integrate the open source Open Virtual Desktop into Windows environments. The OVD allows end users to publish Linux or Windows business applications from virtual environment, rather than install the applications (and therefore the operating system) onto a local machine.
Microsoft has given Ulteo access to proprietary products such as Sharepoint, Microsoft HyperV, App-V and Azure. Ulteo is using this access to create more remote access options for IT departments to build around. In addition to customer servers and data centers, remote access via the cloud will soon be a viable option for the OVD.
Version 2.0 of the Open Virtual Desktop is available now with 2.5 in beta. More information can be found at ulteo.com.
