Zarafa Releases Community Version 6.40 RC1

Feb 01, 2010

The Dutch-German groupware producer Zarafa has just made the first version of its collaboration platform 6.40 ready for testing.

In addition to several updates and bugfixes, the integration of the Lucene search engine is among the highlights of the new release by groupware server zarafa. This first version can be tested by interested users, while the stabile version 6.40 is planned for the end of March.

Zarafa has created buzz recently with its ActiveSync implementation Z-push. With Z-Push, users can connect and sync groupware using multi-platform ActiveSync devices, via Open Source means. The RC1 can be downloaded here, and the free demo can be found here. The demo, however, is based on Version 6.30 and is expected to be updated within the next few days.

A demo video showing new features can be found on the web site. Zarafa falls under the terms of the AGPL and also underthe propietary license. Some additional features such as the active directory and the Blackberry Toolkit are only available for a fee.
