Video Editor and VJ Tool: Lives headed for version 1.0.0

Jun 17, 2009

The free video editor and VJ tool Lives brings updates and bug fixes on the way to a planned July release of its first stable version 1.0.0.

The current 1.0.0 pre-1 version is all about solving problems: GTK+ makes starting the editor more reliable, playback speed is no longer affected when the user switches files and clips can now be rendered in the multitrack window. Lives 1.0.0 pre-1 comes with a splash screen, allows the mixing of fore and background generators and a target FPS value for the generator can also be set. Last but not least, there's a whole bunch of smaller fixes and updates for the translations.
The source code is available here. Binary packages for Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE and other distros can be found in the download section of Lives website- although they may not mirror the latest level of development.

It is great to read about this update, I am checking every dependency before I run the terminal to make and install, I am a dj and became a linux enthusiast (and user) about a year ago. I promise feedback on the release and mouth to mouth promotion everywhere I go.
