Hello Klaus: I read your advice in LM Jan 2012 regarding installation on a hard disk. I followed the instructions for 1GB swap partition and ReiserFS partition, and Knoppix 7 installed without any problems, but something is going wrong with the GRUB bootloader. It displays a menu but doesn’t respond to the keyboard and doesn’t default boot on timeout either.
I am installing on an old Acer Travelmate 3750 laptop with a P3 processor. It has problems in that it doesn’t work at all without a mains connection and complains about CMOS settings on startup. That just means I have to boot and then set the time/ date – it worked fine with Ubuntu Maverick but was just a bit too slow, which is why I decided to try Knoppix instead.
