SystemRescue is one of the premier Live recovery tools for both desktop and server systems on Linux and Windows. Booted from a DVD or flash drive, SystemRescue contains a comprehensive set of tools ranging from standard editors and file managers to disk partitioners and other basic system utilities, including ddrescue, MemTest, and Rsync. SystemRescue supports common filesystems such as ext4, XFS, Btrfs, VFAT, NTFS, Samba, and NFS.
For a complete list of packages, see https://www.system-rescue.org/Detailed-packages-list/. All these applications are supported by extensive documentation, including a Quick Start Guide, along with pages for some of the more complex applications. Having a copy of SystemRescue close at hand and knowing how to use it can make recovery from a system crash much less painful.
