Ubuntu Mobile and Embedded (UME) will be out soon, and Linux Magazine Brazil had a preview at Bossa Conference 2008, presented by Adilson Oliveira from Canonical. UME is targeted at connectivity devices, such as UMPCs and MIDs (Mobile Internet Devices), but not at cell phones, as they are "too closed", according to Oliveira.
Ubuntu is working on the next but one release, 8.10, codenamed Intrepid Ibex. Ubuntu promoter and Canonical CEO Mark Shuttleworth launched the next round of development in the traditional way by naming the product.
Thanks to an agreement with the Ubuntu company, Canonical, Parallels can now distribute its commercial virtualization product, Parallels Workstation, via the Ubuntu package management system.
