Commercial Editor UltraEdit Now Also for Linux
The multi talented UltraEdit is now available as UEX in a commercial version for Linux. The editor is extremely popular, especially in the world of Windows.
Under the name UEX, UltraEdit can be purchased for $50 and according to the blurb, is the Swiss Army knife under the text editors, with interesting features for a whole range of users, such as journalists, web developers, bankers, pharmaceutical researchers and system administrators.
With support for syntax highlighting for HEX, JavaScript, Java, HTML, XML, PHP and Perl, along with other established program languages (C, C++, C# etc.), the package includes a validator and diff tool. Among its many talents, the tool boasts a multiple document interface and can handle files over 4GB.
The editor has an FTP connection, a search and replace function for file content, works with Unix, Windows and Mac data without conversion problems and can convert files into many different formats. A collaboration feature, enabling multiple authors to work on one document, like for instance, Gobby, is not included.
UltraEdit is on sale with packages for Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE and Red Hat, and a TAR archive that contains a version for further Linux distros. A multiplatform version is also available at $80.
