Firefox announces a competition designed to educate and reward the mobile add-on developer community.

Wanted: developers who can build and port mobile add-ons for Firefox 4. Firefox encourages mobile add-on developers of all skill levels and experience to participate in the Firefox Mobile Add-ons Cup Competition. The competition runs today through January 7, 2011.

All participants will receive "tons of exposure," and if your add-on is submitted by December 17, 2010, you will receive a limited-edition Firefox 4 Beta shirt. Judges will choose one winner from each of the six categories. Categories include sports/game, commerce/shopping, geo-location, productivity, sharing/social, and novelty/innovation. Winners will receive prizes that include US $1000, an Android or Maemo phone of choice, automatic placement as a “suggested add-on,” and showcase in a featured add-ons video, blog post, and more. The grand prize winner also receives a full conference pass to Mobile World Congress (February 14-17, 2011) that includes four nights accommodation in Barcelona.
