GCC Developers Publish Bugfix Release

The GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) developers have now released version 4.2.3, which fixes a number of bugs.

The latest release appeared after three months of work by the developer team. Joseph Myers does not reveal the bugs the release fixes in his announcement – he simply refers generically to regressions. This said, the fixes seem to be fairly major, drawing conclusions from the 31MB footprint of the patch for the previous version. No new functions were added.

The GNU Compiler Collection includes compilers for the C, C++, Objective-C, Fortran, Java and Ada programming languages. Both the patch and the complete GCC 4.2.3 archive are available for downloading from various mirror servers.
