Gov 2.0 to Highlight Collaboration, Transparency

"Participation, Collaboration and Transformation" to be the expo's theme.

The Gov 2.0 Expo, the government and technology conference co-produced by UBM TechWeb and O'Reilly Media, will bring key figures of The White House, NASA, The Departments of Defense and Health and Human Services, and the Central Intelligence Agency together to discuss the merits and measure of collaboration, social media, and transparency within the public sector.

The conference, which runs May 25-27 in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C. Gary Vaynerchuk, co-founder of VaynerMedia, will present "The Democritization of Content" during his keynote on May 26. The expo also includes keynotes from Price Floyd of the Department of Defense, and Sonal Shah of the White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation.

On the open source and collaboration fronts, Philip Ashlock of The Open Planning Project will present a government tech clinic, "Bring Us Your Problems." Douglas Birnie will present "Next Generation Policy Making - The Move Toward Online Collaboration & Open Government." Michael Carroll of FEDISM will present "Procurement 2.0: Using Collaborative Technology." Dave Eaves of the Centre for the Study of Democracy will present "Open Data, Baseball and Government." Chris Johnson will present "Getting to Yes: The Argument for Open Data." Carl Malamud will present "Law.Gov America's Operating System, Open Source."

Other presentations to look out for include Richard Boy's "Transparency Begins at Home," Dustin Haisler's "Power to the People: Using Technology for Government/Citizen Innovation," and Rusty Talbot's "Recovery.gov and the Future of Citizen Engagement."
