Newly Cooked: Krecipes for KDE 4

Jul 07, 2009

KDE developers ported the recipe management function in the transition from KDE 3 to 4. Amateur chefs can now consume the new version, although the meal isn't quite cooked to perfection, it still being in an alpha state.

After porting Krecipes to KDE 4, the software has now reached alpha state. In the general process of porting to KDE4/Qt4, developers Laurent Montel and Daniel Sauvé transferred some of the add-ons in the old version to the new one.

Among the ported features in Krecipes are backup/restore, a setup assistant, the preferences dialog and Sqlite. The new version also supports Sonnet, a spell-checker for multiple languages, to prevent spoiling the soup by misreading the recipe. The splash screen now also shows the proper version number. The changelog has more details.

Krecipes is still only an appetizer. To help cook up the main meal with Tux by contributing code or reporting bugs, go to the Contribute to Krecipes page. Source code is also on SourceForge.
