Synctool 4.5 Updates Itself

Feb 24, 2010

Synctool helps in synchronizing configuration data in a cluster. The GPL program is now available in version 4.5 with some new functionality.

The new Synctool functionality includes an update mechanism for the software itself that scans for new versions and downloads them. The command line tool also provides the option to do a dry run on a possible update to a remote file. A few bugs were fixed in addition.

Synctool manages hosts based on classes and can restart services after an update. For file updates, the program uses Python-modified rsync and ssh. The new version 4.5 is ready for download as a tarball from the project page.
