Linux Netbooks and Return Rates

Oct 10, 2008 3:31pm GMT

Recently there have been quite a few news stories about the return rate for Linux netbooks, including Kristin Shoemaker's Linux Netbook Returns: Not Surprising, but Likely Avoidable. Those of us who work with Linux and open source tend to forget that often for the average American consumer, open source is still a relatively abstract concept. If you don't work in IT, hate reading manuals,... more »

Other days I think about studying law (intellectual property, anyone?). Maybe I... more »

Sep 29, 2008 3:15pm GMT

A new article on Grok Code (which I found thanks to Slashdot), "Famous Programmers From Adleman to Zimmermann," looks at 222 famous programmers. The author provides graphs that illustrate "projects that propelled them to fame, the number of projects it took to make them famous, and the relative numbers of men and women who make up this elite group of famous hackers." T... more »

Bug 272826: Ubuntero

Sep 24, 2008 2:30pm GMT

Normally the Ubuntu Women mailing list is a quiet one, but it saw some action overnight. In fact, the overnight activity is the only action in the Ubuntu Women archives this month. The discussion reminds me of a topic I brought up in June about using the terms guys, girls, gals, he, she, and they. To see the full topic thread, it's best to visit the Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/l... more »
