Google Summer of Code has brought together over 4,500 students from around the world with over 300 open source projects and together have created millions of lines of code.

“Stronger definition of network behavior in software is a growing trend, and open interfaces are going to lead to faster innovation,” said Nick McKeown, ONF Board member and professor at Stanford University.

Google has announced the accepted projects list for its 2011 Google Summer of Code (GSOC) Program.

“This kind of massive collaboration is exactly what makes Linux the driving force behind today’s new technology innovations.” said Jim Zemlin, executive director at The Linux Foundation.

Day two of the CeBIT Open Source Forum 2011 kicks off Wednesday, March 2, and will be streamed live by Linux New Media, AG.

“This is the conference that attracts the best minds in industry, academia and government and our attendees know they will gain insights into the future of high performance computing technologies and how they will affect everything from scientific discovery to product development to education,” said Scott Lathrop, SC11 General Chair.

The Android Builder Summit, to be announced by the Linux Foundation on Wednesday, February 16, will bring together OEMs, device makers, systems builders and kernel community to collaborate on the Android platform.

The North American Fedora User and Developer Conference (FUDCon) was held on Arizona State University campus in Tempe Arizona from January 29 -31, 2011 and proved to be the largest FUDCon to date with over 200 people pre-registered to attend and final attendance numbers estimated around 175 people.
