Reconstruction

To reconstruct deleted or overwritten files, press the Restore button in the button bar. The software stores the backup information in a hidden .Synkron directory for the current user. On the left, in the restore dialog that now appears, you will find a list of all the files you can reconstruct.

Checking the box for one or multiple files selects the file or files. If you want to restore all the files in the list, simply press the Select all button at bottom left. On the right in this window, you will find additional information about the selected file. After selecting one or multiple files, you can reconstruct them by pressing the Restore button at bottom right. The data is then restored to its original path.

Willing to Change

If you sync large amounts of data on different media and, thus, have created a large number of profiles, the record of sync profiles you have created, which you can see under Tab | Load Tab, quickly becomes cluttered. To accelerate the search for a profile, you can use a list view.

To display the list of prepared sync profiles, press the SyncView button in the program's button bar. Synkron now opens a split list view with all of your stored profiles. To the right of each profile are three buttons: Start, Stop, and Edit; they let you control the sync action or modify the configured options (Figure 4).

Conclusions

Synkron is a powerful tool for syncing individual directories or files. Thanks to its profile concept, the software lends itself to very flexible use and reliably keeps your datasets up to date. Thanks to the intuitive interface, newcomers can easily handle the program controls without a long learning curve. The program is recommended above all for users who need to back up and synchronize smaller datasets and who find the feature set of a full-fledged backup solution too complicated.
